Malloy’s rally in deep stretch carried the 2-year-old Outwork filly to a half-length maiden special weight win Sunday at Churchill Downs.
The filly is the 10th First-Crop winner for Outwork, making him one of only a half-dozen freshman sires to have a double-digit tally of winners. He is also just one of four horses on the list to have multiple stakes winners this year.
Malloy stalked a sensible pace through a half-mile in :47.68. Still a couple lengths back coming into the stretch, she found an opening along the inside and wrested the lead from Grace’s Secret in the late stages to finish the seven furlongs in 1:24.74.
Malloy sold to owner Coffee Pot Stables for $175,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearlings sale. She was bred in Kentucky by Double O Bloodstock, Everest Bloodstock, Gerty Bloodstock and Dermot Ryan.
After breeding 160 mares in 2020, his largest book in three years, Outwork will stand the 2021 season for $15,000 S&N.
