Constitution’s world-wide impact as a sire expanded to Chile on Oct. 2 when Breakpoint won the Polla de Potrillos (G1) to give the WinStar stallion his first South American Grade 1 winner.
Already the leading Second-Crop sire with over $5 million in progeny earnings to date, Constitution has had a trio of stakes horses in just the first two days of October.
Far back in the field early in the 1,700 meter (about 1 1/16-mile) turf race, Breakpoint came wide into the stretch and made a bold move to take the lead with about a furlong to run. Monaghan Boy (CHI) made it very tight late, but Breakpoint held him off to win by a head in 1:42.02.
Breakpoint, 3, is now undefeated in three starts for Ruiz Tagle Correa Juan Andres’ Stud R T. Bred in Chile by Haras Don Alberto and is the second foal out of the multiple graded stakes winner Safawi (CHI).
