Boerne, who started the year with three straight victories, got her fourth win of 2020 with a front-running score in the $75,000 Azalea S. on Independence Day at Gulfstream Park.
The win was the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Fed Biz filly, who was second in last month’s Game Face S. at Gulfstream.
Fed Biz, who stands for $7,500 live foal, is in the top five on this year’s Third-Crop sire list by earnings, black type horses and winners.
Boerne went right to the front at the break of the seven-furlong Azalea. She had a one-length lead after a half-mile in :45.35. Estilo Talentoso made a run at her in upper stretch, but Boerne had plenty left and came home a 1 3/4-length winner in 1:22.17 on the sloppy racetrack.
Owned by DeLuca and Sons Stable, Boerne now sports a record of 4-1-0 in six starts and has earned $137,630. She was bred by Randi and Eric Moreau-Sipiere and is from the immediate family of Grade 1 winner and multi-millionaire Dramatic Gold.
