More Than Ready’s Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner was named the Champion Female Turf Horse of 2019 at Thursday night’s Eclipse Awards ceremony, making her the eleventh champion by her sire.
Uni raced just four times in 2019 collecting wins in the Perfect Sting S. and First Lady S. (G1) before defeating males in the Breeders’ Cup. Her overall record is a stellar 9-1-2 in 14 starts, with earnings of $2,314,893. She has five graded stakes wins and three additional black type wins to her credit.
Uni is trained by Chad Brown for Michael Dubb, Head of Plains Partners, Robert LaPenta and Bethlehem Stables. She was bred in Great Britain by Haras D’Etreham.
Uni was More Than Ready’s seventh Breeders’ Cup winner, more than any other sire in the history of the event. The WinStar stallion already has two Grade 1 performers in 2020 and nearly 200 stakes winners lifetime. He is standing this year at WinStar Farm for $80,000, stands and nurses.
