Echo Town capped off a big Saturday for Speightstown that also included the stakes winners Victim of Love and Bobby’s Wicked One both getting their second career black type victories.
Echo Town, a 3-year-old colt owned by L and N Racing LLC, was making his debut in Saturday’s six-furlong maiden special weight race at Fair Grounds. After stalking the pace while well off the rail for the first half-mile, the bay colt ranged up and took over the lead in mid-stretch to draw off to a 2 1/2-length win in a sharp 1:09.39 on the fast track (VIDEO).
Echo Town was bred by Betz and Burns et al and sold for $100,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling sale. His dam Letgomyecho, who won the Forward Gal S. (G2), has produced seven winners, including Gotham S. (G3) winner J Boys Echo.
Speightstown has produced 14 TDN Rising Stars in his illustrious career, many who have gone on to become Grade 1 winners. The latest is Sharing, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) and a finalist for 2-year-old filly Eclipse Award honors.
