Commissioner got his newest stakes winner Saturday at Gulfstream Park when Soros broke his maiden in the $75,000 Smooth Air S. at Gulfstream Park in his second lifetime start.
The 2-year-old colt was second in his Nov. 2 debut against maidens but proved much the best in Saturday’s one-mile affair. Sixth after a half-mile in :45.57, he made a big four-wide move on the turn and rolled to the front in upper stretch, then easily drew clear to win by 2 1/2-lengths in 1:38.10.
Soros is Commissioner’s second stakes winner and fifth stakes horse overall. The WinStar stallion, who will stand for $7,500 in 2020, has 13 winners from his first crop.
Soros is owned by OGMA Investments, LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Shain Crain. His dam Eastern Ruckus has produced eight winners, including two-time stakes winner Ladyecho.
