Constitution upped his First-Crop winners total to 19 with a pair of juvenile maiden winners on Nov. 8. The WinStar stallion now has a total of 19 individual winners, third-best among freshman sires. He also ranks second by stakes horses, with seven, and is the only First-Crop sire with four graded stakes winners.
Jara earned her win going the one-turn mile at Laurel Park. The gray/roan filly stalked the pace most of the way and took over the lead late and looked on her way to victory when Etana came along side in deep stretch and bumped her soundly, with only a nose separating the two at the finish. Jara was ultimately awarded the win.
Bred in Kentucky by Elm Tree Farm, Jara is owned by D. J. Stable LLC. She sold to her owner for $240,000 at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in April.
Happy Trails broke her maiden later in the day, going five furlongs at Del Mar in her career debut. Coming from last in the field of seven, she stormed home in the final furlong to win by a length.
Bred by Richard and Connie Snyder, Happy Trails is the first foal out of stakes-placed Happybirthdaybaby and is from the family of Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner Spinning World.
