Olympic Romp made a bold stretch bid to break his maiden by a half-length on Oct. 12 at Keeneland, making him the tenth overall winner from Carpe Diem’s first crop of runners.
Carpe Diem is a top-10 First-Crop sire by both winners and progeny earnings, as well as by repeat winners.
Olympic Romp won Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile contest with a four-wide move coming into the stretch, then outran several closers to hit the wire a half-length in front of American Joey.
The winner was bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm and is out of the stakes-placed mare One in a Romp, who has two stakes-winning siblings. His second dam Romp and Stomp is a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Volponi.
