Monforte, one of Carpe Diem’s eight First-Crop winners, got his second career victory on Sept. 26 in a game effort on the Gulfstream Park turf course, winning the 7 1/2-furlong contest by a neck.
The 2-year-old chestnut colt had the lead soon after the start and never relinquished it, holding off the late rush of Yes for Less to secure the win, with the rest of the field some nine lengths back.
Monforte is owned by Anthony DePaulo and was bred by Westbury Stables LLC.
