Book 2 of the Sept. 9-22 Keeneland Yearling sale began Friday and the numbers continued to be very strong for Exaggerator’s first crop, with four individuals selling for an average of $210,000.
Topping the day was hip No. 761, a colt consigned by Lane’s End, agent, and purchased by Taproot Bloodstock for $275,000. The colt’s stakes-placed dam Christie’s Treasure has already produced the graded stakes winners Mozu Superflare and Sacristy, the latter the dam of current top 3-year-old filly Flora de La Mar.
Selling for $270,000 was hip No. 899, a filly consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency that went to BSW Bloodstock. The chestnut is from the same family as champion 2-year-old filly Halfbridled and $1.8 million earner Lu Ravi.
Another filly, hip No. 701 consigned by Scott Mallory, agent, went to Mike Ryan, agent for $240,000. The filly’s deep female family traces directly to Winning Colors, last female winner of the Kentucky Derby (G1) .
Action resumes Saturday at Keeneland. Exaggerator has 68 lots remaining in the sale, with 12 scheduled to go through the ring on Saturday.
