Viv surged to the lead on the final turn en-route to a six-length maiden special weight win on the Retama Park turf course on Wednesday evening (VIDEO).
Already twice stakes-placed in her young career, Viv is the eighth winner from Commissioner’s first crop, ranking him in the top five by winners for all Kentucky-based Freshman sires.
Despite a three-wide trip most of the way in the 7 1/2-furlong race, Viv readily took the lead with three furlongs to run and was in complete command the rest of the way.
Viv was bred by Stoneview Farm and is owned by Tom Thurman. She is one of seven winners out of the Cherokee Run mare Colleague.
