Tiznow’s multiple stakes winner Tiz a Slam scored his fifth career graded stakes win in the $125,000 Singspiel S. (G3) Saturday at Woodbine, taking the 1 1/2-mile turf affair by two lengths.
A winner of six stakes overall, the Chiefswood Stables homebred is now 8-3-1 in 25 starts and upped his earnings to $874,159.
Tiz a Slam, in post 1, when right to the front and was up two lengths after a half-mile in :53.52. Maintaining that advantage the rest of the way, Tiz a Slam controlled the pace and had plenty of run left to come home a comfortable winner.
“It looked like there was no speed to contend with, and that’s how he likes to do it,” said jockey Steven Bahen.
Tiz a Slam, winner of last month’s Louisville S. (G3) at Churchill Downs, is out of Flaming Rose and a half-brother to stakes-placed Holy Flame.
Tiz a Slam is one of Tiznow’s 42 lifetime graded stakes winners, while his lifetime progeny earnings are closing in on $90 million.
