Scottish Jig did her best running the final quarter-mile to win the 10-furlong Pride S. over the straight Newmarket turf course, giving the 3-year-old Speightstown filly her first stakes win in her seventh lifetime start.
The filly, who is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Seek Again, upped her record to 3-0-3 for owner/breeder Juddmonte Farm.
Last for the better part of the first mile, Scottish Jig hit high gear and had clear running with two furlongs to go, and she sped by the field to win by about three lengths, wrapped up under Frankie Dettori [WATCH RACE].
The beautifully-bred filly is out of the Danehill mare Light Jig (GB), who won the Yellow Ribbon S. (G1) and Beverly Hills S. (G2) for Juddmonte. Seek Again, who earned nearly $1 million, also set a track record in the Fourstardave H. (G2) and placed in four additional Grade 1 events.
Speightstown, whose 2019 fee was recently announced at $80,000, has accounted for 15 stakes winners, seven graded winners, and the earners of more than $6.6 million to date this year.
