Fiesta gave Speightstown a Saturday stakes double when the 4-year-old filly rolled to a 2 1/2-length win in the $100,000 Jill Jellison Memorial Dash at Suffolk Downs.
With Warleigh getting his first stakes win in the West Virginia Legislature S., Speightstown now has 13 stakes winners this year, tying him for the most of any stallion standing in North America in 2018.
Fiesta, in post 8 in the field of nine fillies and mares, was away quickest of all and rolled through the first quarter-mile in :22.22 with a one-length lead. She maintained that advantage around the turn before opening up by daylight at the top of the stretch, ultimately winning by nearly three lengths in :58.40 for the five furlongs on a yielding turf (VIDEO).
Fiesta races in the colors of Seajay Racing LLC and is trained by Joe Sharp. She has five wins and $180,825 in earnings. Bred by Peter Blum Thoroughbreds, her fourth dam is All Rainbows, dam of 1988 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Winning Colors.
