Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale featured the first yearlings of the summer auction season by WinStar’s mulitple Grade 1-winning millionaire Constitution, with a $150,000 colt topping the results for the first-year stallion.
Ken McPeek, agent, was the winning bidder for hip No. 113, who was consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, agent. The colt is the latest foal out of the Bluegrass Cat mare Vision in Blue, who has four foals to race, all winners. The Kentucky-bred colt’s third dam Airistar was an eight-time stakes winner.
Constitution had two other yearlings sell for at least six figures, including hip No. 300, consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds and purchased by Justin Casse, agent. The filly’s dam Livi Makenzie placed in the Beaumont S. (G2) and is from the same family as millionaire and sire Surf Cat.
Constitution, brilliant winner of the Florida Derby (G1) and Donn H. (G1), was bred to more than 310 mares over his first two seasons.
