Sir Truebadour skipped over the sloppy Churchill Downs surface on Thursday en route to a four-length win in the debut for the 2-year-old More Than Ready colt.
Trained by Steve Asmussen for Whispering Oaks Farm LLC, Sir Truebadour made short work of his foes as he popped quickly from the gate, was up two lengths at the midway point, and extended his lead to the wire. The final time for the five furlongs was :58.55 (VIDEO).
The winner is a full-brother to Nearctic S. (G1) and 2011 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G2) victor Regally Ready. Sir Truebadour hails from the female family of European, English, French and Irish Highweight The Grey Gatsby (Ire); English and French Highweight Maximova (Fr); and Group 1 winners Macoumba and Septieme Ciel. Sir Troubadour sold for $300,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling sale.
Sir Truebadour is More Than Ready’s 12th lifetime TDN Rising Star, joining the likes of graded stakes winners Rushing Fall, Copper Bullet and Verrazano.
