Elevenses notched her first career stakes victory Saturday, coming home with a powerful run in the stretch to win the $75,000 Any Limit S. at Gulfstream Park. The 3-year-old More Than Ready filly has now won three of four starts and earned $109,650 for owner Joseph Shields.
Sent off a heavy favorite, Elevenses did not disappoint in her three-quarter length victory. Running comfortably in fourth a few lengths from the front, she came four-wide into the stretch, then surged past the field to win rather easily. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:11.89.
“I had a pretty good trip. I knew there was a lot of speed and that everybody would be rushing,” winning rider Luis Saez said. “When we came to the stretch, I took her to the outside and she just took off. She’s a nice filly. I love that filly. She’s little, but she has a big heart.”
The winner is out of the stakes-winning Speightstown mare Cougarstown and was bred by Ramspring Farm.
More Than Ready already has more than a dozen stakes horses internationally this year, led by last year’s Eclipse Sprint Champion Roy H, who kicked off his 2018 campaign with a victory in the Palos Verdes S. (G2).
