More Than Ready’s hip No. 420 drew a spirited round of bidding during Wednesday’s closing session of the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale, ultimately bringing a winning bid of $625,000 from Phoenix Thoroughbreds III.
The filly was one of the top five prices of both the Wednesday session and of all fillies offered during the two-day auction.
“We know a little bit about [More Than Ready], Steve (trainer Steve Asmussen) loved him and he’s trained about a hundred of them,” said Phoenix’s U.S. director of operations Tom Ludt. “She’s very racey and we’re hoping to get lucky.”
The filly is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare La Song, who was graded stakes-placed at two and is from the same family of Grade 1 winner Currency Swap.
More Than Ready is coming off a fantastic 2017, when he had two Breeders’ Cup winners, including Sprint champion male Roy H.
