Super Saver’s graded stakes winner Inside Straight made his 2018 debut on the turf on Jan. 13 and came away with a well-earned victory in the $75,000 Cotton Fitzsimmons Mile H. at Turf Paradise.
Away from the races since last July 2, Inside Straight had been training very well over the local oval in anticipation for his 5-year-old campaign. The Randy Howg-owned bay did not disappoint, vying with Way Striking nearly the entire trip, then holding off High Security to win by a neck in 1:36.63 on the firm turf (VIDEO).
Inside Straight, who won the Oaklawn H. (G2) last year, is now 8-2-4 in 23 starts and has earned $797,064. The winner was bred by SF Bloodstock and is a half-brother to Santa Ynez S. (G2) winner Dance Daily. Inside Straight was a $160,000 purchase at the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Super Saver has been one of the most popular North American sires of the past four years, breeding at least 150 mares each season. His largest crop to date are 2-year-olds this year.
