Clearwater led nearly every step of the way in her one-length victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs.
The gray or roan filly is the 12th winner from Paynter’s first crop, which includes the stakes winner Renaisance Frolic and three additional stakes-placed winners.
Clearwater made the lead a few strides after the start, got pressure from Oh Charlie in the first half-mile, then held History Made at bay late to secure the win in 1:11.88 on a fast main track.
The winner is owned by her breeder Duncan Lloyd and is out of the stakes-placed mare Biorra.
