Enstone found an opening along the rail and surge to the front en route to victory in the $125,000 Ontario Colleen S. (G3) Sunday on the Woodbine turf course.
The win was the first in a graded stakes for the 3-year-old Tiznow filly, who also scored in the $225,000 Bison City S. and $125,000 Fury S. earlier this year, both over Woodbine’s synthetic main surface.
Sunday’s one-mile contest wasn’t without drama for the winner. After a clean start, she tucked into third along the rail and held that spot through the first half-mile, when had to check back going into the turn.
Patrick Husbands quickly got his mount back into stride, just waiting for an opening to make her run. When R Naja drifted out coming into the stretch, Enstone shot through the gap, rallying strongly to win full of run in 1:34.28 on the firm turf.
“She’s just a nice horse. She ran well at two, she’s run hard at three. We’ll see, she’s probably going to get a rest now,” said trainer Mark Casse. “What can you say? She runs on the synthetic, she runs on the turf, she can do anything.”
Enstone is owned by East West Stables and is now 4-5-0 in 12 starts and has earned $406,303. She was bred by William Graham.
Tiznow is the sire of 13 stakes horses this year and had an excellent final weekend of August with Can You Diggit a solid second in the $250,000 Albany S. and Irap a troubled third in the $1.25 million Travers S. (G1).
