Garrett O’Rourke, on behalf of Juddemonte Farms, signed the ticket for a $400,000 Congrats filly during the first night of the Aug. 7-8 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearlings sale.
O’Rourke said the ultimate plan after her racing career was to breed her to their champion Arrogate, who is currently prepping for a run in the Pacific Classic (G1).
“She looks like a very fast filly,” O’Rourke said following the purchase. “With her pedigree and her looks, she really, really suits breeding to Arrogate. That is the ultimate purpose of these if they can be the racehorses that we expect them to be for the prices we are paying for them. Obviously, we are delighted to be coming home with them.”
Cataloged as hip No. 5, the bay filly was consigned by St. George Sales, agent. Her dam, Maple Syrple, was a stakes winner in Canada and finished second in the Schuylerville S. (G2). She has produced the stakes winners Golden Century and Maple Forest.
Congrats progeny have been hot on both the racetrack and in the sales ring this year. He has 106 winners to date, among the top 10 on the General Sire List, while his $1.7 million filly topped the OBS March 2-year-old sale.
