Special Aviator became Global Campaign’s 10th First-Crop winner Sept. 21 at Gulfstream Park with a sharp debut victory.
The 2-year-old filly scored by 3 ¾-lengths in the one mile and 70-yard contest on the Tapeta surface. After a good break, Special Avaitor was carried wide into the first turn, then recovered nicely to move into third at the halfway point of the race. She was three-wide around the final bend as well, but easily made the lead then drew off in the stretch to win geared down.
Special Aviator is owned by Special Aviators, LLC, Span Investments, Inc., and Rohan Crichton, the latter also the dark bay filly’s trainer. Bred in Kentucky by Mark Secrest, Special Aviator is the second foal out of the More Than Ready mare Off My Stage. She sold to her owners for $100,000 at the 2024 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April.
Grade 1 winner Global Campaign 10 winners include a pair of stakes horses: Global Legend, runner-up in the $200,000 Sapling S. and Mrs Worldwide, who placed in the Presque Isle Debutante S. on Sept. 20. Global Campaign stood the 2024 season for $12,500 stands and nurses.
