Xerxes Avenue controlled the pace from the outset in the July 4 Frances Genter S. at Canterbury Park, winning by a length in the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Gemologist filly.
Making her first stakes start after breaking her maiden just 16 days ago, Xerxes Avenue went to the front right out of the gate once again, set a solid pace to comfortably hold off Double Bee Sting. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:11.10 (VIDEO).
Xerxes Avenue is owned by her breeder Jeff Drown and is now 2-1-1 in four starts, earning $58,480.
Gemologist, a top-10 Second-Crop sire of 2017, was also represented by his first 2-year-old stakes winner of the year on July 1 when Rose to Fame won Gulfstream Park’s $100,000 Brave Raj S. Gemologist now has six stakes horses with progeny earnings topping $1.4 million.
