Audible’s accomplished 3-year-old filly My Mane Squeeze drew away with authority to win Saturday’s $300,000 Dogwood S. (G3) at Churchill Downs by a widening five lengths.

The dark bay filly is now a five-time stakes winner and is one of Audible’s nine stakes horses this year. With over $4.8 million in progeny earnings, Audible is ranked second on this year’s Second-Crop sire list.

My Mane Squeeze broke very well and was in an early tussle for the lead, but backed off when several fillies were intent on getting to the front. She began to gain momentum on the turn and was poised for a big stretch run turning for home. She took over from Legadema with a furlong to go, then poured it on late to win convincingly.

My Mane Squeeze covered the seven-furlong distance in a final time of 1:22.27.

“Today the plan was to try to break and be a little closer than last time,” jockey Luis Saez said. “The track is pretty tight, and the plan was to put her in the clear as soon as possible. Everyone wanted to be up front early. She was in a good spot, and when she got to the top of the stretch, she was loaded. Last time when she ran at Charles Town, the track was a little deep and their turns are a little tight. That’s why today the plan was to break sharply and put her in the clear.”

My Mane Squeeze, owned by William Butler and WinStar Farm, has a record of 6-1-3 in 12 starts, with career earnings of $988,460. Bred in New York by Butler, she previously won the Eight Belles (G2) during Churchill Downs’ Spring Meet. My Mane Squeeze is a half-sister to six-time stakes winner Rotknee.
