Tiznow’s Modern wins eighth career stakes

Modern’s length and a quarter win in Saturday’s $75,000 Lieutenant Governor H. was the eighth black type win for the venerable son of Tiznow.

The 7-year-old has been a fixture on the northwest stakes scene for some time now, and put his speed on display once again in Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. The Swift Thoroughbreds-owned bay was never headed at any point of call, winning by 1 1/4-lengths, getting the distance in 1:43.22, less than a second off the track record.

With an impressive 10-6-6 record in 30 starts, Modern has earned $300,179. He was bred in Kentucky by Darley and is out of Interior Design, who is a full sister to Darley’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner Tempera.
