Pat On the Back came away with a game victory in Monday’s $50,000 Ontario County S. at Finger Lakes, the third career stakes win for the 3-year-old Congrats colt.
Co-owned by Harold Lerner, AWC Stables and Nehoc Stables, Pat On the Back won a pair of stakes as a 2-year-old, placed in two others, and is now 4-1-1 in 11 starts and has banked $355,100.
Congrats is once again a top-10 General Sire of winners in 2016, with 86 to date. He is the only top-10 sire that currently stands for less than $45,000.
Pat On the Back was locked in battle for the lead the entire six-furlong trip, with the four-horse field very tightly packed until the final furlong, when Pat On the Back and Gold for the King pulled clear. Pat On the Back would prevail by a head in 1:10.67.
