Copper Bullet flew through five furlongs in his eight-length maiden special weight victory Thursday at Churchill Downs, earning the 2-year-old More Than Ready colt a TDN Rising Star tag in his second career outing.
Copper Bullet covered the five furlongs in :57.56 seconds, just a second off the track record.
Bred by Dell Ridge Farm, the winner was a $200,000 purchase by his owner Winchell Farms at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
More Than Ready’s 2-year-olds have shined in the sales ring as well this year, with a $1.1 million colt at the Fasig-Tipton February sale and a $1 million filly at OBS April sale.
