Paynter’s personal high-water water mark of the April 25-28 OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training came Thursday when James Bashor submitted a winning bid of $250,000 for the dark bay colt.
Price Thoroughbreds LLC was the consignor of hip No. 657, who is out of the stakes-winning Aptitude mare La Concerto. The Kentucky-bred had breezed a furlong in 10 1/5 seconds during the Under Tack show.
First-Crop sire Paynter’s 2-year-olds have brought up to $425,000 during this year’s juvenile auction season. The WinStar stallion has bred more than 150 mares each of the past two seasons.
