WinStar’s One Liner triumphs in Saratoga MdSpWt

One Liner, co-owned by China Horse Club and WinStar Farm, forged to the lead in mid-stretch and went on to a 1 1/2-length maiden special weight win Saturday afternoon at Saratoga.

The 2-year-old colt, who was making his debut, was a $150,000 purchase for at the 2015 Keeneland January Sale.

One Liner established a good position in third early under John Velazquez, maintaining that spot around the turn while well off the rail, then battled with Royal Copy in the lane before pulling clear late to stop the timer in 1:04.89 for the 5 1/2-furlongs.

One Liner, by Into Mischief, is the first foal out of Cayala, whose dam Chasethegold is a sister to Grade 1 winners Daredevil and Albertus Maximus. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Kingswood Farm.
