Audible filly shines in scoring second straight stakes win

Chi Chi came through an opening between horses on her way to a dominating win in the $60,000 Juvenile Fillies Sprint S. Saturday at Gulfstream Park to give the 2-year-old Audible filly her second consecutive added-money win.

Chi Chi, who broke her maiden on Sept. 24 in the E. L. Gaylord S. at Remington Park, has now earned $71,840 for her owner Ernest Frohbosese. She is one of Audible’s eight stakes horses this year, which is the second-most for all First-Crop sires. Audible will stand the 2024 season at WinStar for $15,000 S&N.

Chi Chi was away well from her inside post and was never more than two lengths off the lead at any point of the 6 ½-furlong race. She sat patiently behind the pacesetters on the turn, then when an opening appeared after turning for home, she shot through to take command and drew off late while in hand to win by 2 ¾-lengths in 1:18.44 on the synthetic surface.

The winner was bred in Florida by Herman Wilensky and is a half-sister to Fountain of Youth S. (G2) winner Simplification. Her third dam Goulash produced two-time champion Ashado, Grade 1 winner Sunriver and Grade 3 winner Saint Stephen.
