Artie Schiller’s Dorsett best in Sandy Lane Gold Cup (G1-Bar)

Dorsett captured the biggest race on the Barbados racing calendar on Saturday, winning the $214,000 Sandy Lane Gold Cup (G1-Bar) by three lengths. The 6-year-old son of Artie Schiller previously tasted stakes success with a win in the Mystic Lake Derby at Canterbury Park.

Dorsett claimed the prestigious event with late move between horses, splitting rivals to win going away under Jalone Samuel. The final time for the 1,800 meters was 1:49 4/5 over the firm turf.

Dorsett, who was making his first start for new owners Steve and Allan Madoo, has now bankrolled $423,965. The Kentucky-bred is a full brother to stakes winner Miss Machiavelli and a half-brother to black type winner Justanoldsong.

Artie Schiller has a trio of graded stakes winners and six stakes horses overall in 2016. The WinStar stallion stands in 2016 for $10,000 live foal.
