Haveyougoneaway gets the nod in Oaklawn’s American Beauty S.

Congrat’s Haveyougoneaway found an opening along the rail in the stretch on the way to her neck victory in Saturday’s $100,000 American Beauty S. at Oaklawn Park. The victory was the second stakes win for the 5-year-old, who has been off the board only five times in 20 lifetime starts, with seven wins and $312,425 in earnings.

With a fairly hot pace developing on the front end, Haveyougoneaway stalked in fourth for the first half-mile, then came up the inside to pass the dueling frontrunners in mid-stretch and then out-gamed Sarah Sis to get the six furlongs in 1:10.32.

“The race set up perfect for us,” jockey Jareth Loveberry said. “The two speed horses went to the front as I expected and I was able to set off them. The rail opened up for us down the lane and I had plenty of horse to get her going. I was worried the (number 2) Sarah Sis was digging in and was going to get to us, but we were able to stay in front and get up for the win. She’s an honest filly that tries hard wherever she goes. She loves it here and showed it today.”

Haveyougoneaway is owned by Champion Racing Stable and was bred in New York by Andy and Susan Beadnell.

Congrats, whose 145 winners in 2015 ranked him in the top 10 nationally, is off to another fast start in 2016, with his 3-year-old filly Forever Darling taking the Santa Ynez S. (G2) on Jan. 2.
