Sonny Inspired kicked off his 2016 campaign on Saturday with a 1 ¾-length victory in the $75,000 Fire Plug S. at Laurel Park, wrapping up the win with a decisive move in the final quarter mile to give the son of Artie Schiller his fifth career win.
Artie Schiller now has 28 lifetime black type horses and has a pair of promising 3-year-olds in Cajun Schill and Drakarys for this year’s sophomore division.
Prior to the Fire Plug, Sonny Inspired had placed in a trio of stakes events and is now 5-6-6 in 26 starts, banking $291,324 for his owner D Hatman Thoroughbreds.
