Bodemeister’s 83 yearlings tops all sires at Keeneland September sale

Bodemeister, whose first foals are yearlings of 2015, has a catalog-high 83 yearlings in the Sept. 14-26 Keeneland September sale, including 26 lots in Book 1, traditionally the most sought-after offerings.

Some highlights from the first session include hip No. 45, a colt out of the Grade 3 winner Above Perfection that is a half-brother to Spinaway S. (G1) winner Hot Dixie Chick; hip No. 95, a colt out of the unraced Malibu Moon mare Auspiciously who is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Malibu Mint; and hip No. 124, a colt out of a full sister to champion 3-year-old filly Wait a While.

Standing at WinStar Farm for $30,000 live foal in 2015, Bodemeister’s yearlings have averaged a final sale price of $228,750, second-best for all 2015 first-crop sires. The Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Sale was particularly strong, with four lots bringing at least $400,000.
