Lutine Belle takes New Year’s Day stakes for Bellamy Road

Bellamy Road couldn’t have had a better start to 2015 as Lutine Belle took the $75,000 Blue Norther S. Santa Anita Park on New Year’s Day. The victory was the first stakes win for the 3-year-old filly who placed in the Golden Gate Debutante on Nov. 29.

Story lines surrounded Lutine Belle’s come-from-behind victory in the one-mile Blue Norther. The winner was guided to victory by Alex Solis, who secured his 5,000 victory in his Hall of Fame career. The 3-year-old filly was bred by WinStar Farm and John Penn and is owned in part by his trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and Solis’ son, Alex II.

The younger Solis was the winning bidder for Lutine Belle at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale.

Lutine Belle is out of the Mazel Trick mare Timeless Trick, a half-sister to $1.7 million earner Le Mars Girl and from the same family as two-time Grade 1 winner Twist Afleet.
