Distorted Humor “Rising Star” crushes at Aqueduct

Mawthooq’s eye-opening, 10-plus length maiden special weight win Nov. 26 at Aqueduct made the “TDN Rising Star” tag seem like a foregone designation for the 2-year-old son of Distorted Humor.

The chestnut colt is out of Ready’s Gal, a four-time graded stakes winner of over $600,000 by More Than Ready, and is Distorted Humor’s 21st lifetime Rising Star, joining an illustrious group that includes graded stakes winners Any Given Saturday, Alternation, Cowtown Cat and Machen, who is a full brother to Mawthooq.

Mawthooq, who was second in his debut Oct. 11, is owned by Shadwell Stable and trained by Kiaran McLaughlin. Shadwell was the winning bidder, at $850,000, for the Kentucky bred at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
