Who’s in Town is 17th SW of year for Speightstown

Who’s in Town garnered the first stakes win of her career Saturday at Laurel Park when she came out on top in a field of 14 3-year-old fillies in the $100,000 Safely Kept S.

Speightstown now has 17 stakes winners and more than $7.9 million in progeny earnings, both top 10 numbers on the 2014 General Sire list.

Who’s in Town sat a good trip in fifth before making her move to the lead at the top of the Laurel stretch. With a host of horses closing from back in the field, Who’s in Town best all of them, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:23.68 over a fast track.

“We have been very pleased with all of her previous races,” trainer Michael Matz said. “If you look at any of her races you can see that she always tries very hard. Even when other horses are right at her.”

Who’s in Town now has eight in the money finishes, including a pair of stakes-placed efforts, in 11 career starts with earnings of $210,897.
