Lea County S. goes to Speightstown’s Wine Police

Wine Police collected his second stakes win of 2014, and fourth lifetime, with a half-length victory in Tuesday’s Lea County S. at Zia Park. The 6-year-old has now collected $475,607 in his 21 career starts.

Wine Police is one of Speightstown’s 15 stakes winners that have amassed 19 stakes victories in 2014.

A well-travelled horse, Wine Police has won stakes at Saratoga and Remington Park in addition to his two black-type scores at Zia. Bred in Kentucky by John and Martha Jane Mullholland, Wine Police was sold to his owners Kirk and Judy Robinson at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Speightstown, in the top to once again on this year’s General Sire list, will stand for $80,000 in 2015.
