WinStar Farm sets 2015 stud fees

WinStar Farm announced 2015 stud fees for most of its 22-stallion roster, which is headed again by leading sire Distorted Humor at $100,000 S&N, and includes a new fee for leading freshman sire Super Saver.

Super Saver will stand 2015 for $35,000 stands and nurses fresh off a stellar first crop of 2-year-olds in 2014 that includes Grade 1 winner Competitive Edge, Grade 2 winner I Spent It, stakes winners Hashtag Bourbon and Lil Super Bear, among other promising winners.

Pioneerof the Nile is also enjoying a sensational year in 2014. The runaway leading second-crop sire, Pioneerof the Nile is led by four graded stakes-winning 3-year-olds from his first crop, and his second crop of 2-year-olds in 2014 features two-time Grade 1 winner American Pharoah. A 2015 fee has yet to be determined for Pioneerof the Nile, and will be announced following the Breeders’ Cup.

WinStar welcomes millionaire Revolutionary new to the stud barn for 2015. The striking dark bay recently retired after a decorated career on the track that featured a win in the $1 million Louisiana Derby (G2) and troubled third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) as a 3-year-old. Prior to that, Revolutionary was one of the fastest 2-year-olds from his crop, earning the highest Beyer Speed Figure by a colt, with a 102. He will stand for $7,500 S&N as a participant in WinStar’s Dream Big program.

Fast Bullet is also new to WinStar for 2015. One of the top sons of WinStar’s leading sire Speightstown, Fast Bullet was a leading sprinter in the North America who scored his biggest win on Belmont Stakes Day in the True North H. (G2) in 1:08.27, just a fifth of a second off his sire’s winning time nine years prior. Fast Bullet will stand for $5,000 S&N.

“2014 was another exceptional year for WinStar stallions, and we continue to be extremely proud of their success across the board, both on the racetrack and in the sales ring,” said Elliott Walden, WinStar President & CEO. “There are as many as 18 WinStar-sired horses running in this year’s Breeders’ Cup, including favorites in the Juvenile by Pioneerof the Nile (American Pharoah) and More Than Ready (Daredevil). So the present and future are both very bright, and our mission is to continue to offer breeders stallions of the highest quality.”

Like Pioneerof the Nile, the 2015 fee for Congrats will be determined after the Breeders’ Cup due to progeny participation for both stallions in the event. Congrats is represented by Alcibiades (G1) runner-up Top Decile, who is one of the top contenders in the Juvenile Fillies (G1).
