Ridin With Biden led all the way in Saturday’s 1 ½-mile Greenwood Cup (G3) at Parx, scoring by a length over Magic Michael to give the 4-year-old son of Constitution his first graded stakes victory.
He is one of Constitution’s 12 stakes winners this year, which leads all Fourth-Crop sires. The WinStar stallion also tops that list by stakes horses, with 29, and graded stakes horses with 14.
Ridin With Biden, who hadn’t raced beyond nine furlongs prior to Saturday, took the lead and set a very controlled pace, reaching the half-way point in 1:14.30. With no serious challengers, he had a two-length lead at the top of the stretch, and had plenty in reserve to hold off Magic Michael in the final strides.
“He really likes Paco [Lopez]’s feel,” said winning trainer Butch Reid. “You can’t take too much hold of this horse, because he’ll run off with you, but Paco just did a tremendous job putting them to sleep down the backside and that was it. I was pretty comfortable about that once he slowed down and I saw close to :50 for the half. Then I felt good.”
Owned by Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC, Ridin With Biden is 5-5-1 in 17 and has earned $385,080. The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by William Harrigan and Mike Pietrangelo.
