Room Service best in G3 Herecomesthebride

More Than Ready’s newest stakes winner came in Sunday’s $100,000 Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park when the 3-year-old filly Room Service came from last-to-first win the nine furlong turf affair by a widening two lengths.

The Gary and Mary West’s homebred is the fifth stakes winner, and the second graded winner of 2014 for More Than Ready. The international champion sire now has more than 130 stakes winners in his career.

In her usual style, Room Service was at the back of the nine horse field through six furlongs, with Seeking Her Glory setting the pace at 1:11.19. Entering the far turn, Joel Rosario swung Room Service out and quickly began to pass horses.

At the top of the lane, the big-striding bay had the leaders in her sights, dispensing of the front-runners outside the eighth pole to pull away for the win.
The final time was 1:46.82 over the firm turf.

“It was a perfect trip,” Rosario said. “I hoped that they would go fast up front, and that’s exactly what it seemed like. She wants to come from behind. I wanted to save her so that turning for home, I’d have a lot of horse left. She has a long stride and when she’s ready, she’ll tell you, ‘I’m going now.’”

Room Service, who has now earned $136,565 from five career starts, will likely make her next start in April at Keeneland.

Bred in Kentucky, Room Service is out of Dream Lady, who placed in a pair of Grade 3 turf contests for the Wests during her racing career and has turned into an equally talented broodmare, producing the stakes winners Major Gain (G3 Arlington-Washington Futurity, also by More Than Ready) and Oscar Party (Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies S.).
