Experimental Handicap: Cairo Prince at 118

Cairo Prince, recent dominating winner of the Grade 2 Holy Bull S., was weighted at 118 pounds on The Jockey Club’s 2013 Experimental Free Handicap, released Jan. 29 by The Jockey Club.

The colt, from the first crop of Pioneerof the Nile, established his credentials with a victory in the Grade 2 Nashua S. Nov. 3 at Aqueduct, and is now 3-1-0 in four starts, earning $512,000. His lone loss was by just a nose in the Grade 2 Remsen S., also at Aqueduct.

The Free Handicap, published annually since 1935, is a weight-based assessment of the previous year’s leading 2-year-olds.
