Kodiak Kowboy top frosh sire of 2yo winners

Yessum Boss made Kodiak Kowboy the co-leading freshman sire of 2-year-old winners on Friday night, when he easily won a Retama Park maiden special weight.

The .90-to-1 choice in the one-mile turf event proved a deserving favorite, as he won by 5 3/4 lengths to become the 14th first-crop victor by champion Kodiak Kowboy.

Yessum Boss is out of the Distorted Humor mare Show Your Colors, and was bred by John E.  & Barbara R. Smicklas Living Trust. His second dam is multiple graded stakes winner Colcon.

Kodiak Kowboy now has progeny earnings exceeding $573,000, to rank fourth among all Kentucky’s Freshman sires.
