15th SW for No. 1 sire Speightstown

Back Forty collected his first career stakes win Wednesday in the $50,000 Damitrius S. at Delaware Park (VIDEO), giving Speightstown his 15th stakes winner this year, a group that has garnered 24 stakes wins in 2013. Speightstown is also the only North American sire with 2013 progeny earnings in excess of $8 million.

Back Forty took the six-furlong Damitrius in front-running style, though he had to shake off a persistent Tomorrow’s Tale, eventually pulling away in deep stretch to win by 1 1/4-lengths in a swift 1:09.87 on a fast track.

Five-year-old Back Forty has made but seven starts in his career, with four wins and a pair of seconds to his credit. Out of the A. P. Indy mare Limbo, Back Forty is a half-brother to two-time stakes winner Gentleman Chester.

Bred and owned by John and Iveta Kerber, Back Forty has earned $141,600.
