Speightstown sires 12th SW of year

Central Banker became the 12th stakes winner of 2013 for Speightstown, taking the $100,000 Smirnoff Sorbet Quick Call Stakes at Saratoga on July 25.

The 3-year-old son of Speightstown was making his seasonal debut in the 5 1/2-furlong event over the turf course. Despite an eventful run under Joel Rosario, he was all alone at the finish, 3 3/4-lengths clear of the runner-up, in time of 1:02.56.

Central Banker was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm LLC, and sold for $200,000 at the 2011 Keeneland September Sale. He has compiled a record of 6-3-1-1 and earnings of $181,800 for owners Klaravich Stables & William H. Lawrence, and trainer Al Stall Jr.

Speightstown has now sired 47 career stakes winners from his first five crops. With over $7-million already this year, he ranks second among all Kentucky stallions on the General Sires List.
