Pioneerof the Nile’s $825,000 colt at the March 28th Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale marked the second time this year that a 2-year-old by the WinStar stallion brought a winning bid of at least three-quarters of a million dollars.
Wednesday’s results also raised Pioneerof the Nile’s 2-year-old auction average of 2018 to $422,500, second-best for all North American sires with at least five lots sold.
Trainer Mark Casse, as agent, was the winning bidder for hip No. 76, who was consigned by Eddie Woods, agent.
The bay Kentucky-bred is the first foal out of Grade 3 winner Assateague, whose siblings include four stakes winners and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) runner-up He’s Had Enough.
