First-Crop sire Carpe Diem had his best results of the Sept. 10-23 Keeneland September Yearling sale on Tuesday when a colt brought a winning bid of $550,000 from the partnership of China Horse Club and Maverick Racing.
Through the first two days of the auction, Carpe Diem’s average of $288,000 is more than 11 times his stud fee.
Taylor Made Sales Agency, on behalf of Siena Farms, consigned the colt, hip No. 341. The colt is out of the Tiznow mare Renards Lapin, a half-sister to Dr Fong, winner of the prestigious St. James Palace S. (G1) in England, as well as English multiple Group 2 winner Lucky Story.
Carpe Diem has a total of 63 lots remaining in the September catalog.
