3 fillies are first foals for Bodemeister

WinStar Farm’s Bodemeister, the brilliant Grade 1-winning millionaire by Empire Maker, recently sired three bay fillies as his first reported foals to arrive from his introductory crop at stud.

One of the bay fillies is out of the multiple stakes-winning Speightstown mare Mother Ruth and was born at Darby Dan Farm in Lexington, KY. Another bay filly, out of the Pulpit mare Observation, was born at Shawhan Place in Paris, KY. And Millenium Farms reported the birth of a bay filly out of the Mr. Greeley mare Opus For Her at its Lexington-based operation.

A leading 3-year-old of 2012, Bodemeister dominated the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1) by 9 ½ lengths before a pair of gallant runner-up finishes in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness S. (G1). Out of the graded stakes-winning Storm Cat mare Untouched Talent, Bodemeister bred 173 mares in his first season at stud in 2013, tops among all first-year stallions. He’s set to stand his second season at WinStar for a fee of $30,000 stands and nurses.
