Leading for the majority of the five furlongs, 2-year-old colt All in Blue signaled the official beginning of juvenile season for More Than Ready with a 6 1/4-length romp at Belmont Park in a $70,000 maiden special weight contest on Independence Day.
All in Blue battled with post-time favorite Patent for the first furlong and a half, then jockey Javier Castellano called on his mount, and the fleet-footed gray sprinted away from his competition, opening up by four at the head of the lane to cruise to an easy win.
The final time for the was :57.51 seconds.
All in Blue, a first-time starter, marked yet another success for the team of trainer Todd Pletcher and Starlight Racing, who also campaigned More Than Ready through a stellar career that included four graded stakes wins and over $1 million in earnings.
Bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm, All in Blue was purchased by Starlight for $155,000 at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling sale. The colt is out of Cloud Rise, whose siblings include the multiple stakes winners Chorwon and Yukon Robbery.
